EDMUND SUTCLIFFE
Edmund is an integrationist, assimilating all useful knowledge, methodologies and frameworks into a highly ordered and coherent framework of his own.
He was born on his family farm and has been around cattle since he was 5 years old and actively handling them from 10 which has given him love, instinct and experience when dealing with them, complimented by a Low Stress Cattle Handling course with Miriam Parker.
On completing his Chemistry Masters at Oxford he learnt everything he could about Regenerative Agriculture, taking courses in Permaculture, Keyline Design and Holistic Management, culminating in an internship at Richard Perkins’ world-famous farm in Sweden.
After this he worked with 3LM, the Savory Hub for the UK, becoming certified as an Accredited Professional through the Savory Institute, leading training in Holistic Management and becoming an Ecological Monitor.
He managed his family farm for 5 years before coming to NFF, bringing about many changes including conversion of the farm to Organic, the cattle going fully Pasture For Life, selling beef direct to customer, replacing the arable cropping with very diverse herbal leys and verifying the regeneration through ecological assessment from 3LM.
He has been running his own farm planning and design consultancy for many years using this training and experience, along with different technology, including advanced software programs such as QGIS and VectorWorks.
All this has given him a deep insight to the incredibly complex problems that farmers face and supporting them to regenerate their land, finances and relationships brings him huge joy.
His love of cattle, the land and the people on it is what drives him forward.
